we used to be summer’s heralds months before it came.
We danced like maybe everything was only effervescence
and you told me I was every pop-song mixing into one.
These days music speaks to me of all the things I’d rather be.
These days, you hesitate before you say my name.
You invite me to a party but I don’t want them to see
that I haven’t worn your favourite dress in so, so long.
